Westbury-on-Trym

Day Nursery and Pre-school

Our Westbury on Trym nursery is situated on a quiet residential street, just off Stoke Lane. We have a baby area upstairs with a play room and sleep room for our Caterpillars (under 1s) and Butterflies (under 2s). Downstairs we have separate areas for Cubs (under 3s) and Lions (our pre-school stage children) as well as a messy play room. Our garden has a play area, sand pit and a vegetable patch.

Introducing Westbuy-on-Trym

When our founder first decided to set up a day nursery in the late 1990s she chose the leafy suburb of Westbury on Trym. The search criteria were simple – a family house similar to those the local children live in so as to make their transition to nursery as seamless as possible. A large detached house yards from Elmlea Primary School, the shops of Stoke Lane and the busy Falcondale Road was chosen for the excellent connections it offered for parents and the convenience it presented to parents on their way to Elmlea or to the shops. Some of the grandparents of our children even remember the building in its former life as a Post Office!

Once Upon a Time was one of the first fixed site day nurseries in the area and soon became an important part of the community. Over the years it has grown and developed and has recently undergone a significant renovation to help it remain looking its best. We are always updating and improving the nursery and there are always more improvements in the pipeline!

The nursery primarily serves the local areas of Westbury on Trym, Stoke Bishop and Henleaze but we have a number of children from further afield who chose the nursery due to its convenience for those commuting into the city, its beautiful and tranquil suburban surroundings and most of all our wonderful children and staff! We have close links to a number of major local employers including Airbus.

What the parents say

“We are grateful to the nursery and the staff for their hard work and care. Our eldest son enjoyed preschool at Once Upon a Time and benefited from their support when moving into reception and starting school. We have been delighted with recent improvements; better communication between nursery and home, parents' evenings, and trips to the local park. Our youngest son enjoys his time at nursery and is very happy there, thanks to all the staff.”

R. Watson

“Prachi loves to go to the nursery. She has a great time doing different activities like play dough, building models or making bread and much more.”

Prachi's mum

“Mia has been at the nursery since she was 11 months old (she is now 3 and a half) and has thrived there. She loves attending and always tells us what fun she’s had doing arts and crafts, dressing up, singing, dancing and reading. It’s a very happy place.”
